I have always been interested in drawing and painting. During a trip to Europe in 1961 I discovered the `Old Masters` and was particularly impressed by the paintings of Canaletto. Ever since that time, I have endeavoured to paint buildings and landscapes in a similar style. During the 1970`s, I was fortunate to have been able to attend a two year part time course on the painting techniques of the old masters run by Wesley Penberthy. During my working career I worked as a metallurgist.
I have been a member of the Heidelberg Artists Society for 15 years and was president during 2004 and 2005. I paint outdoors one day a week with a small group of artists; this has helped my work to improve significantly during recent years.
